Jeffrey Scott Pearson has been scoring network television and films for over 30 years. After music school in London and college in America, he went to LA to cut his first CD and then worked through the 1990s as a staff composer at Horizon Video Productions. After the millennium, Scott became realigned with New Century Films and Figure 8 Films as a television music composer in 2001. Over the next decade the Discovery Channel networks engaged him to score over 200 television programs and specials. With his guitar virtuoso writing partner David Imhof, Influence Music Publishing provided soundtracks for some of the most popular shows of the day. Their music was also included in various production music libraries and turned up on hundreds more shows internationally. Scott recently graduated from Utrecht School of the Arts with a Masters in Music Technologies and works with Soundgram Post, an international music library for media.

During a radio interview in 2005, Scott recounted how the varied demands of TV music forced him to master myriad genres to score different narratives. The importance of timbre and instrumentation is a vital element in communicating place and time for cues that rarely last more than a minute.

"A score is like the frame for the director's canvas. It shouldn't interfere with the enjoyment of the art at all, and when it's right, nobody notices it. But the wrong frame, the wrong music, can destroy the impact of a masterpiece." - NPR On the Media (2005)

Though mostly known as a television composer, Scott occasionally has the time to take on a movie soundtrack. With larger budgets come longer hours, higher expectations and less compromise. Yet nothing satisfies more than working with a real orchestra or famous session musicians. These short samples represent a fully considered vision for the scenes they score.
